Our Ports, Our Fishermen

Currently, Ogyre is active in Brazil, Indonesia and Italy. Each port has a uniquely enriching story and every fisherman brings a different perspective and approach to how they relate to the ocean. Every day they wake up at dawn and sail off, fortifying their bond with this precious resource that supplies them with the tools to stay alive and make a living. Once at sea, they begin their fishing activity, as well as fishing for litter.

Fishing For Litter

The practice includes the implementation of a litter collection system in collaboration with independent fishermen in various ports worldwide. These marine workers are paid to retrieve trash and bring it to a designated area ashore. Here, the litter is analyzed and categorized by a local partner who digitally archives it before handing it over to the organization in charge of garbage disposal.

Archived Marine Litter

Prior to recycling or disposal, the retrieved marine litter is weighted and photographed. The images and data collected are then sorted by contribution and uploaded onto the private dashboards of our community members so that they can clearly see the results achieved thanks to their support and contribution.
